The ongoing work of First Parish and its ability to fulfill its mission to take care of one another and to be a blessing to the world depends on the generosity of our members and friends.
Our First Parish Covenant of Community outlines the important commitments we make to each other, including a financial one:
While many people don’t like to talk about money, it is necessary, even — or especially — for churches. Here is how we offer our financial support to our beloved community:
Renewal of Giving is when we ask each person to reflect on the Covenant and make a financial commitment for the next fiscal year. Many people don’t realize that their pledge is essential and that our pledges cover about 71% of all operating costs. This includes salaries for the Minister, Director of Religious Education, Director of Music Ministry, office staff, and Sexton as well as maintenance and insurance on two old buildings and dues to the UUA. It costs about $30,000 per month or $1,000 per day to run our church.
Or you can pledge now: Simply use the Pledge Form — fill in three areas, click and you’re done.
What should I give? Guidelines and information on what others do can be helpful. Look over these visuals for assistance in your decision: distribution of yearly pledge amounts & guide to annual percentage giving.
